Gordon Beyer
Born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised on the east end of Long Island, Gordon was educated at Fishburne Military School in Waynesboro, Virginia, and The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina. He currently calls Tucson, Arizona, home.
He is a father of two hard-working public servants; a daughter who is a current federal law enforcement K9 handler and a son, a former US Marine with eight years of service and is currently in the Close Personal Security industry. He is a husband to Catherine for over three decades. She makes everything they have accomplished and continue to do, possible.
Gordon is currently a law enforcement officer in Tucson, Arizona. He has 22 years of service with the Arizona State Troopers in different assignments including but not limited to: SWAT, Gang Enforcement, several federal task force positions, narcotics, and career criminal investigations. He currently serves as a sworn explosive detection police K9 handler at a smaller agency in the Tucson Metro area, assigned to the Pima Regional Bomb Squad.
Gordon and his current Explosive Canine Detection partner, K9 Yewa (yay-vah) were partnered at the TSA/MWD detection school at JBSA/Lackland Air Force Base. They’ve performed explosive detection functions at large venues such as Kino Sports Complex, Diablo Stadium, and the Allstate Stadium for Super Bowl LVII. They’ve also worked on Air Force Two. They have conducted proactive sweeps and route clearances for two U.S. Presidents, two U.S. First Ladies, former U.S. Presidents and Vice Presidents, in addition to countless U. S. Senators, Representatives, and foreign dignitaries. Gordon and Yewa have studied detection science, skills, and training techniques under Cameron Ford and Simon Prins; always looking for that edge to be the best team possible.
Gordon has experience in tactical planning and operations, covert/undercover planning and operations, and VIP/Dignitary Protection planning and operations. He has also done physical plant security planning and operations. He holds firearms, defensive tactics, TASER, and other AZPOST instructorships.
Gordon and his wife, Catherine, have been involved in working dogs, German Shepherds specifically, since the early 90’s. They’ve competed together in Schutzhund, PSA, and NADF. Husband and wife are currently involved in nosework with their personal dogs, Valor and Stassi, respectively. Both dogs are currently in training for explosive detection.
Catherine and Gordon founded and operate ValorWearUSA, a custom working dog gear company specializing in LEO / MWD collars, leashes, harnesses, and other working dog equipment. With their contacts in law enforcement and the military at all levels, they are trusted by their clients to continuously develop new products for arduous, non-permissive environments to keep their handlers and teams safe. All their products are tested in the field by actual handlers doing the work before being available for purchase.
